Five hundred years ago, St. Ignatius wrote what would become one of the most popular Christian books of all time, the Spiritual Exercises. His book contains a section that I think is especially helpful for personal devotions. Essentially, he divides a few stories in the Gospels into one, two, or three points and asks readers to meditate on each point.
I decided to apply his approach comprehensively to one Gospel (Luke) and I ended up with 123 meditations. This is about the simplest truly biblical devotional I can imagine.

After graduating from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, I served as a high school Bible teacher in Asia. I enjoy traveling, writing, and playing the drums. My latest book focuses on Paul’s work as a tentmaker and what it means for today.
