The belief in life after death is one of the oldest, most widespread, and most persistent human beliefs. It can be seen in ancient burial practices, ancient thinkers such as Plato, and ancient and modern religious ideas from around the world. In addition, we now have more data to consider—near-death experiences (NDEs) and deathbed experiences (DBEs).

I have recently become interested in NDEs and DBEs from listening to two interviews given by Dr. Steve Miller, who is a professor and NDE and DBE researcher:

After watching those videos, I read about a dozen books on the topic, several articles, and watched more videos. Then I wrote a few blog posts:

    • Hi Aunty. If you are referring to Moody, yes he has a PhD and MD. Everyone else in the video has an MD, with the exception of Sir William Barrett who was a physicist who died in 1925. Moody became interested in the subject after hearing Dr. George Ritchie’s near-death experience, which occurred in 1943. Ritchie’s experience is told in the book Return from Tomorrow and you can find videos of him on YouTube.

I have read about Kübler-Ross and watched her on YouTube, but I have not read her books yet.
