Have you ever tried to write your own gospel tract? I have and I think it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Part of my problem was not having a background in design and trying to do everything on a Microsoft Word document. Making one change had a domino effect on everything else.
But design and layout is not where I spent most of my time. I was stuck in the world of revision. While revising my writing is nothing new, the amount of time I spent rewording this little tract was ridiculous. Perhaps I struggled because I was trying to be as simple and accurate as possible. Perhaps a one-thousand page book can’t be summarized in seven hundred words. Perhaps writing is not really my thing. In any case, I’m finished with it, for now.
If you’re interest, here’s my tract entitled, The Big Picture. To use:
- Print in color on both sides
- Cut in half horizontally
- Fold into four vertical columns with the Big Picture on the front.
Each printed page will produce two tracts.
After graduating from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, I served as a high school Bible teacher in Asia. I enjoy traveling, writing, and playing the drums. My latest book focuses on Paul’s work as a tentmaker and what it means for today.
